(More customer reviews)I bought the SPT straps for the peace of mind from safeguarding my surfboards. They work great in discouraging thieves and I have never had trouble with these straps coming loose while driving. HOWEVER, I have the worst time putting on these straps. There MUST be lots of tension on these straps in order for the lock to engage; that is how they are designed. You must apply these straps tightly. Not "kinda tight" or "sorta tight", they must be pulled VERY TIGHT. In fact I struggle with the SPT straps and have to expend extra time whenever I use them. And in the cold of winter here in Washington State these become twice as difficult with chilled numb fingers. I hate using the SPT straps for this reason. That is why I will be buying the Steel Core lockable straps instead as they are much easier to use.
