The pump grips valves firmly when in use, the pump arm can be locked so that it doesn't accidentally extend, and the package also comes with a small mounting plate so you can attach it to the frame of your bike. Personally I keep it in my backpack, though, the thing is small and light enough and I know I would forget it on the frame and have it stolen.
