I bought a set of these wheels from a good bike shop in Jamaica Plain MA (Bikes Not Bombs) after a snow-plow driver compacted a great mass of snow into my bike, which was on a rack on the rear of my parked car. I was pissed and disheartened that my set of Wolber Super Champion Model 58's were destroyed (it is not easy to get the Lynnfield MA Town Hall to compensate you adequately for a pair of plow-damaged, 35 year-old high quality bicycle wheels) but these Sun brand wheels are just fine. They are light compared to other wheels in this price range (in my experience anyway)and seem well-built. They've stayed true through around 450 miles ( I don't know that this is exceptional) of riding over the crumbling roads of North Shore MA.
I got the 27x 1-1/4 size and opted for the sealed hubs; I assume the quality is similar across the line. From the shop, the set cost 150 dollars.
I'll qualify this review by saying that I ride a Motobecane Nomade Sprint, which is at least 30 years old. My judgment of a "light" wheel (as well as a light bike) might be considerably different compared to that of someone riding a bike built within the last 5-10 years, or even the last 10-20 years. Just the same, these are good wheels and you can do a lot worse for the money. I submit that I came upon this page while looking for another set, for another old bike.
