The 4mm hex bit can be removed (and exhchanged for a larger hex) since it is only glued in the end of the key, but you shouldn't need to since the 4mm is the perfect size for torquing handlebars, seatpost, saddles, stems, bottle cages - all of which have torque values near the 5Nm setting. It's much easier and conveniant to work with that torque wrenches, though maybe not as accurate, but I still used it on all my carbon and aluminum components.
