(More customer reviews)Road bike mirrors are rather inherently problematic, as there's just not much of a place to put them. The best is if you have Shimano STI shifters, then you can get the mirrors that attach to your shifters. If not, then you're stuck with something like this. And as far as road bike mirrors go, this is a fairly good one.
PROS:
- Shatterproof glass mirror (much better / clearer than plastic)
- Very easy to install (just pop the end cap off your handlebar, stick in the plug, and then stick the ball joint of the mirror into the plug)
- Very adjustable
CONS:
- Did not hold tightly in place on my bike. I don't know if this might be something specific with my bike (maybe my handlebar pipes have a bigger inner diameter than this mirror is expecting?), but the ball joint didn't hold the mirror well, and the mirror got knocked out of position whenever I went over a sharp bump. I found a very easy fix, however, in simply wrapping the plug in some black electrical tape to just tighten its hold. It now holds fine.
I also see some people complaining about this, but I like it: the mirror is shaped such that the center of it is relatively flat, and then it becomes more convex as you approach the edges. That has the nice effect of allowing me to see cars that are directly behind me generally undistorted in the center part of the mirror, and also give a wide field of view to see cars while I'm going around curves and such.
