This is my first experience with any Sidi shoes as I finally bought a pair after years of procrastinating & waiting for a discounted price that finally suited me. The Sidi Genius Pro 5 Carbon Mega road shoes are very good road cycling shoes. The pair that I have has "MILLENIUM III" stamped on the bottom.
However I feel the "Pro" name tagged along with it is not as professional as I thought it was. For one, the sole is not completely made of carbon fiber. It is plastic with carbon fiber injected into it. It is still very light and stiff enough to me, so no complaints, but I'm not sure how it stacks up to shoes with soles that are completely carbon fiber. The Velcro straps also has plastic teeth embedded in the Velcro to help prevent slippage. Very nice! The upper part of the shoe is pleather. The adjustable ratchet buckle works very nice with a push up lever (black) to tighten & two separate push-down levers (red) to loosen in two different increments. Very nice! I found I was able to make minor adjustments even while riding. The back, red-colored heel is replaceable with a Phillips screwdriver. If you replace it, make sure you replace it before the Phillips head gets scratched off!
I like my Sidi Genius 5 Pro Carbon Mega road shoes very much, but I feel the $250 plus price tag is a little excessive for carbon/plastic soles and the Pro name it carries which feels more semi-pro to me. It still beats the heck of the cheapie shoes I used to wear for road biking so no complaints from me! Still I highly recommend a pair if you can get them at the best, price possible.
