Built as part of a touring bike, this went to Cuba and travelled almost worry free for 400km. By almost, I mean the initial re-build from the airport took more time than it should have to set the gear cable once the wheel was back on. Once on, it was reliable and the ratios worked well on Cuba's interior roadways and hilly stretches.
Coming back home, product service was essentially non-existent in Toronto - I couldn't find anyone on-line or otherwise to offer any help with how to properly set the thing up. Buy one of these and you're on your own until more folks know how to service them.
So when you do eventually work out the instructions, it can be great. I do have one other caveat which is that there can be a tendency for the gears to slip if it isn't perfectly tuned. This can be mildly frustrating, but so far hasn't escalated to having a foot slip on the pedals. And this may be just my installation of it as they're typically sold already built into a rim. If you want a stronger rim or heavier gauge spokes than they offer, you'll take a bit of a chance that after the build the hub isn't defective.
This may sound like a rough review, but I do like this hub over conventional open gears or the Shimano internals (Rohloff's are just too rich for me). For the price, a bit more help would be nice.
