The first generation of Planet bike pumps were problematic. This is a second generation pump, so we'll see how they work out. Planet bike lights are really first class, and other products they have designed are fantastic, but their pumps have been terrible. I took a chance on their second generation.
I just got the STX pump and tried it out - works fine. Below I mention what the reviewer before me had problems with, but that reviewer appears to have made an operator error: I pumped to 80 lbs with no real problems and it wasn't harder than any other pump I have.
Features seem very good for this price point:
-The gauge is low (it would be great if it was on top of the handle) but it is very large, so it is easy to read.
-The gauge has a moveable arrow you can use to remind you how high to pump to.
-The hose is long.
-Dual head means it fits either type of bike tube, and it comes with a needle and air mattress adapter that locks to the hose so you'll never lose it.
-Head locks on and comes off the tube valve without problems.
-Steel construction seems solid.
-The ergonomically designed pump handle is better than the other types of handles.
All in all, it's a great pump so far.
UPDATE: Still working fine two weeks later. And I figured out the problem the other reviewer was having: at the top of the stroke, the plunger can wobble a little bit from side to side. The plunger needs to be somewhat straight up and down relative to the base or you won't be able to push it down. I found myself straightening it without thinking about it - it's just sort of a natural thing to do when you are plunging down. But sure enough, if you push it off to one side too far, it won't go down at all. I think it may have been a bit melodramatic for that reviewer to push down harder and harder and then return it: just looking at it when it happened, it was pretty obvious that you needed to straighten it out at the top of the stroke, you kind of instinctively do it anyway. And yes, it would have been nice if it didn't wobble at the top. But if you can't plunge it, that's your problem. It's not super sensitive: you really have to be way out of alignment for it to stop it from plunging. I used it several times before I ever noticed it. I'm happy with this pump.

Planet Bike New Generation floor pumps have a stronger gauge system and are rebuildable.. Dual head works on both Presta and Schrader valves. ALX and STX are now 3" taller and use spring at bottom of stroke for a smooth feel. ALX uses a special lightweight polished aluminum barrel. STX uses a steel barrel, plunger and base. Comp uses super-tough composite construction
