(More customer reviews)I purchased this for $82.00 total shipped on ebay. I will keep the trainer, but I am not recommending it. This was a brand new item from ebay so it was Aosom's factory that has screwed up this one.
1. I had to take apart the magnetic wheel in order to screw the plates back on such that mechanism could turn the plate to alter the resistance.
2. There is a burr on the aluminum roller. Not terrible but could damage a good tire.
3. This is described as having a bike handle mountable resistance switch. This is not exactly true. The switch is made from a brake cable attached to the magnetic wheel's housing and strung to a plastic dial which can be mounted to the handle bar. BUT
A. The length of the cable is so long that there are no bikes this long to make it functional. You are forced to take the resistance wheel housing apart, remove the cable from the mountable switch and housing and replace the cable with another of your needed length.
B. The mountable switch is also a joke anyway. It is shoddily designed and made from very cheap plastic. If you can get it to work, which I still have yet to discover, it will be very difficult to turn the knob and actually have it remain in gear.
4. There are many cheap brands of magnetic resistance trainers from companies that I believe are more credible in product description. I am annoyed at how this company has pumped up the description with bells and whistles that don't chime well at all.
5. As for the actual workout you will get on this, it will be a low resistance ride even with the greatest amount of magnetic resistance you can apply.
6. If I wasn't poor. I would buy a $300 trainer that I have tested out in person at a sporting goods shop first.
7. Be careful, unless you are willing to putter around with your purchase.
An addendum:
After puttering around now for awhile, I have discovered that magnetic resistance on any trainer is useless..at least from my experience on cheap models.
I wanted more resistance so bought some neodymium magnets to beef up the flywheel. What I found was that leaving the whole apparatus off of the trainer made not a minuscule difference in resistance. I hadn't messed with my bikes own gears, but now that I have..this is what is pulling the weight.
My recommendation would be to stay away from the trainers with all the extra bells and whistles, save yourself $10.00. They are pure marketing nothing more.
