(More customer reviews)I shopped until my head hurt...fluid? magnetic? tire or rim? etc. I opted for this rim drive, and I'm thankful I made the right choice the first time. I bought the "dial" versus remote version - your gears are the best resistance adjustment you can have! My set-up is a Trek 820 - Even though this rim driven unit doesn't care what tires you have, I changed the stock knobbies to Kenda Kross Plus Front/Rear Slick XC Tire, 26 x 1.95" (road bike manners w/ trail edges). Popping your bike in and out of the unit is a snap.
Anyway, this thing is solid to the core. Whisper quiet (not having owned a tire-drive unit, I can't compare, but this thing is zero sound). I have 4 months of heavy use on it, and I couldn't be happier. Price was right also - I think from "GreenMountain" for about $132. Save the $20 for a CycleOps block (that I bought)- this unit only raises the rear wheel about 2" above the front - just get a cheap small riser or fashion your own.
Haven't selected a new bike computer yet - looking for a good wireless unit that can handle the extra distance to the rear wheel (most max at 24" and require the back of unit face the wheel with the magnet).
Bottom line = I was looking for a compliment and occasional alternative to my home treadmill and dumbells - without dropping $700+ for a bulky, single purposed bike machine - this was exactly what I needed, and it reintroduced me to an old friend - my bike!

Minoura Action Roller Advance Wide Bicycle Trainer Review

(More customer reviews)I bought these rollers because the weather where I live is just terrible. We get 100+ summers and dry, frigid winters, so rollers seemed like a great option for me. I'm not a professional cyclist by any means, but I still think this is a great purchase.
The Good:
For the price, these are an awesome deal. The materials are high quality, and it was easy to assemble (took about 20 minutes).
They're relatively quiet.
Accommodates my 700cc bike easily.
A lot more fun and involving than a stationary bike, so time really flies by!
Folds up easily for storage.
Haven't had any rubber come off my tires! (I've seen videos where this is the case with other rollers)
The Bad:
This can be said about any rollers, but there IS a learning curve. It only took me about an hour to really get the hang of it, but there were some spills along the way. It's a lot easier if you have some kind of step to get on because you can easily lose your balance otherwise.
The website claims that since the diameter of the rollers is shorter than conventional rollers, there is more resistance when pedaling. Supposedly, it's comparable to cycling against a slight headwind, but I don't really see it that way. There might be some more-than-expected resistance when starting out, but once you're going over 10 mph, it's smooth sailing.
Verdict:
Love 'em. Great price, great quality, great investment. If you're thinking about buying rollers, these are a great starter set.

Kreitler Flywheel Review

(More customer reviews)This is a fine product. No complaints on how it works, but it is very difficult to tell which one is the right side and which one is the left. I tried to order a second unit but ended up with the worng one.
Here's the key. Right and left are from the prespective of the rider while using the rollers.
Standing at the back of the roller frame, the Right Hand flywheel attaches to the Right Hand Rail of the frame.
The product pictures (on Amazon) do not help and I found no information about this on the Kreitler web site.

(More customer reviews)Ordered this for my wife who wanted to ride her bike in the house since she ahs some foot problems and walking made it worse.
The trainer is very well made and assembly took a few minutes. the first issue I had was the Butterfly nut, which holds the clamp so it doesn't back out when in use, was cracked. I called and left a message to the vender and after not hearing back from them I sent a email. After requesting some info I received the replacement part in the mail a few days later. Replaced the part and it is good as new.
My wife has ridden her bike on the trainer for 20 to 30 minutes a day 5 days a wek since we received it a few weeks ago. No issues with it whatsoever. Yes it makes noise, but so do all trainers.
At one time I owned a bike and ski shop and sold trainers and this one is as good as some that I sold for more than twice the price.
