It is very comfortable, at least if you have a round head(there are several head shapes) and very well ventilated. It is reasonably light for such a full-featured and affordable helmet, and so well balanced that it feels even lighter than it is, when wearing it.
This helmet, being white, increases your visibility dramatically. Studies show that a white or hi-viz helmet is the most important piece of high-viz gear one can wear. The white is also cooler in the heat of summer.
A huge plus for me is that it is longer in the chin area than most other helmets. This puts more space between your chin and the chin bar. For me, it means that my lips are not up against the chin bar.
It comes with a breath deflector, wind curtain, locking visor, and an inner sun-shade visor which is actuated by the slider on top. The sun visor is a boon, and I can't imagine going without it now.
The one thing I wish HJC would do is put another position on the sun-visor that would allow it to come down 1/2 way, just under your line of sight.
A bonus of this helmet is that it has holes for intercoms under little insignias on the side, that are easily pried off. Also, the interior is easlily removable for installing an intercom, and there are two vent ports in the foam front liner that allow a microphone to be installes, totally out of the way, very easily. The one caveat on installing a mic in one of these ports is that you should tape over the port hole, and over the vent in front of the port as well, or you will get major wind noise...
I have actually tested one of these helmets in a crash, and it performed flawlessly. One thing to consider is that the visor has a lock on it. I usually do not use this lock, but in my crash, it locked by itself. This caused me a moment's panic when I tried to remove it, but I pulled very hard and it opened up in spite of the lock. As that helmet had been used in a crash, I bought a new HJC IS16 to replace the old one. If I had to replace my current helmet, it would be with another HJC IS16!
