(More customer reviews)Like most people, when I first started riding my skinny-tired road bike, I needed a more upright posture. But as I got more comfortable at riding my road bike, I got more proficient at riding in a more horizontal position for better efficiency. In order to do that, I had to swap out my 110mm stem for something longer to bring my bike's handlebars further forward.
My road bike's handlebar is 25mm-diameter, and unfortunately there are no 140mm stems on Amazon that fits 25mm-dia. handlebars. The only 140mm stem is the Pro PLT, and it's for 31.8mm-diameter handlebars.
Fortunately, there are also shims available that allows you to mount 25mm-dia. handlebars on a stem that takes 31.8mm-dia. bars, and I also ordered it along with the Pro PLT stem. Both the shim and Pro PLT stem arrived, and the installation was successful-- Everything came together without a hitch.
I finally got the bike fitment I needed, and this stem was key. Just a heads-up for anyone looking to buy this stem: Check your handlebar diameter and find out if you also need to order shims to use this stem.
This stem worked out very well for my particular application.
