(More customer reviews)When used in conjunction with the Zefal Doodad velcro brace , can be used on any bike without fear of sacratching the frame ,even soft clear coat finishes.Tha LAPIZE is the old European standby and will not fall apart 2 O CLOCK in the morning in the middle of no where!!There are steel pumps available on Amazon but the Lapize iz very light aluminum.
Make sure you add a few drops of sewing machine oil to the cylinder and you will never have a problem.(extra hoses also available on Amazon).

Pump Zefal Frame Hpx-1 - Black Review

(More customer reviews)Years ago I owned a Zefal frame pump that, unfortunately, I left on top of my car and managed to lose. Just recently I bought two more of these pumps--one for my wife and one for myself. This is the best pump you can buy for road bike tires. It attaches securely to the frame by spring action. It locks onto the tire's valve well. And it is relatively easy to pump the tire up to full pressure. In fact, if you own this pump and trust yourself to judge proper inflation pressures, you don't really need a floor pump.
I would give this product a 5-start rating except for one small problem: it needs some some sort of minimal instruction sheet. (1) New owners may need to know how to switch from Presta to Schrader valve setup. (2) There is a bit of a trick to attaching the pump to a Presta valve. You have to line it up just right and then slide it on the valve until you feel it 'click' past the indentation on the valve stem (if there is one). Finally, (3) I find it best to pump up my tires with the wheels on the bike, the bike leaning against something secure, and the valve stem near the top of the wheel. Then you hold onto both of the rubber grips and pump by bringing your fists together. . . . I bent a couple of valve stems before I learned the proper technique, but, having learned, the pump works flawlessly.
It is solid and well-constructed, with an all aluminum body, so it should last a long time. There may be a slight weight penalty to carrying a full frame pump on a modern light-weight road bike, but if you find yourself fixing many flats, you'll be glad to have a Zefal. A new tube, CO2 pump, and two cartridges (a setup that many road cyclists prefer) probably weighs more than the Zefal and a patch kit.

(More customer reviews)As a professional bicycle restorer, finding a good reproduction frame pump is a must. This pump is well made smaller in diameter than the original British pumps which is good and actually work to pump up a tire. They are light weight and fit the frame bosses on English 3 speeds well. Some people may find them a bit loose fitting. They may not be incredibly tight in between the frame bosses, but they will not fall out nor do they rattle. This Problem can be over come with a brass schrader to presta adapter found anywhere. Just thread it lightly into the end of the hose, and the extra length and rubber gasket inside the adapter make the pump fit MUCH tighter. All in all it's a great pump to finish a restoration and one goes on every bicycle I restore.

(More customer reviews)If you're reading a review about mini pumps then it is quite likely you are a weight weenie. I mean anyone carrying a mini pump can't actually be practical, can they?
While I prefer a full-size pump on the road, and a Silca floor pump is simply the best but kind of tough to carry on a bike, not all of my bikes easily mount a frame pump. In particular, I have a go-fast bike for racing, training and fast club rides. And on this bike I prefer CO2 cartridges. Bad for the environment, etc., but the time savings can be more than a little helpful. Also, it's not really practical to carry a full size frame pump on this impractical bike. But what to do if you blow your tube, use the CO2 and then get ANOTHER flat? What if this happens miles from anywhere? I can always try to bum supplies from a buddy -- if a buddy is around. Or...
Or I carry a small patch kit and a mini pump in my saddle bag along with the spare tube and CO2. And this is the mini pump. This baby gets the job done, gets to a reasonably high pressure level with a little effort and provides some good piece of mind. It is also perfect for those times when you have a slow leak and you don't want to break out a fresh CO2 cartridge. So there you have it: it's a mini pump, not a frame pump, so it 'only' gets 4 stars.
PS - It has also come in handy with 'friends' who aren't quite so well prepared. No they don't get the CO2, but they do get to use the mini pump.
