(More customer reviews)I bought this bike for my fiancee and we have been taking rides pretty much every day after work. Here's how I'd break down our experience:
Setup: Pretty easy as far as bikes go, although it will likely be tougher than you think if you've never put one together before. If this process intimidates you at all, it may make sense to bring it to a bike shop for setup.
Construction: I am not a bike expert, but once put together this bike seems solid. Shifting is easy and smooth and the brakes are responsive and easily adjustable. The only note is that this bike is a bit on the heavy side.
Ride: We typically go on rides between 5 and 15 miles, and this bike has done great so far. The shocks help to provide a smooth ride, and the bike handles well going up and down hills. No complaints here.
Overall: We're totally happy with this bike purchase, it's been great for our casual cycling. If you're looking for a bike for casual after-work rides, or maybe longer ones on the weekend - then you will probably not be disappointed with this one.

Nirve Starliner Men's Hybrid Cruiser Bike Review

(More customer reviews)I bought my 17" Men's Nirve Starliner from Amazon, on sale, way below the list price. The package arrived on time, and was in very good condition.Parts were carefully packed and undamaged. One lock-nut was missing and was easily replaced. Everything went together easily; though the brake assembly was not the type pictured in the assembly booklet and I had to go online at the Nirve website to download the correct instructions to adjust them. Once assembled, it differed from the product picture in three respects -- the seat does not have chromed springs, but black rubber bushings; the tires are blackwall, not gumwall; and the derailleur gear was not painted red. Otherwise exactly as pictured.
The bike is a pleasure to ride. Solid feel. The seat is basic and might need an upgrade, but otherwise there's been no need to change things. Shifting is easy and reliable, though there's a big step between 1st and 2nd, and between 6th and 7th; otherwise the gears are nicely spaced. All in all a great deal, a very good bike. Highly recommended.

All I needed to assemble were the handlebars, front tire, seat and the pedals. The gears were already in place so I didn't have to worry about that. Which saved me a headache because I wouldn't know what to do in that situation! You don't need many tools either. Just a set of allen wrenchs, phillps screw driver and a monkey wrench. Its worth the money which I think is a great price for an awesome product. I am so pleased with my purchase!!!!

(More customer reviews)I'm a long time motorcycle technician and tech editor of a national motorcycle publication. I haven't owned a bicycle in a long time, but I know a quality two wheeler when I see one - and when I don't. With this bicycle, I don't. Is it serviceable? Yes. But for how long, I couldn't predict. The bike is shipped with the seat, handlebar, and front wheel not installed. You must install these parts as well as others, but the manual covers two other models with only passing reference to parts of this bike that are similar. The wheels both have a lot of axial runout. The front wheel bearings were over tightened and turned very roughly. Regreasing and readjustment cured that, but it revealed what has to be the lowest quality bearings I've ever seen in any application. The bearing adjustment locknut was frozen on one end of the axle, so all adjustment was done from the other side. The slot for the axle in the fork bottoms was deeper on one fork than the other. This caused the wheel to be cocked in the forks and prevented brake adjustment. The importer is sending me a new fork, though I suspect I'll find the same issue - lack of quality control. I offset the axle in the fork to center the wheel, and all seems well. But the fitment is a quick release type, so a hard bump could shift it back and cause brakes to bind. On initial test ride, the chain kept jumping off the sprockets - first on the front, then the rear. Adjustment from scratch was required, with very poor instructions that really didn't apply to this particular model. But it works. Fenders are the flimsiest plastic things I've ever seen, and no instructions whatsoever for installing the front one. They both flop around like crazy while riding. All in all? A low grade Chinese made product that will provide the casual user with exercise and local transportation, but don't plan on riding any marathons. Considering that similar designs with higher quality sell for $750 or more, this bike is probably priced about where it belongs.

It has a near bottom of the line Shimano RD-TZ30 rear derailleur, a front Falcon derailleur / Suntour crank combo, SRAM MX twist shifters, linear pull V-style brakes, an adjustable seat shock, front shock, and an aluminum frame. The seat tube length is 18", the top tube length is 21", and the stand over height is ~28 - 30" (top tube slopes down to the seat tube). From the seat tube and stand over height, this bike is sized for someone with a 30' - 32" inseam.
The bike comes partially assembled. You have to put the handlebars, front wheel, seat, and pedals on. You will need metric size Allen wrenches. The gears were adequately factory set, but the brakes needed to be adjusted.
I purchased it for occasional street recreational riding. For this purpose, this bike is average. If you want something with better components (more expensive) then look at the GT Nomad / Timberline, Schwinn Sierra / Voyageur, or the Giant Sedona.
Pros: Better price than I found at a local sporting goods chain store and free shipping. Amazon shipped it double boxed. Light aluminum frame. Comfortable seat with adjustable shock tension. Linear pull V-style brakes. Adequate for recreational street biking, which is what about 90% of us do.
Cons: Components, but you get what you pay for. Front and rear wheels are not quick disconnect. One size, if your tall or short this bike will probably be a bad fit for you.

(More customer reviews)This is a great hybrid bike. It's light and fast like a good road bike, and has great tires and gears for rougher terrain. It is a very dark green( the photo makes it look black). It was very easy to assemble, though Schwinn left out the quick release mech for the front tire. They did send it to me quickly though, once I called them up.
I had been riding mountain bikes all my life, so this hybrid was a change for me, and I 'm glad to say that I prefer the hybrid, it's much better for getting around in city areas.There are shocks in the fork and seat that make for a very comfortable ride. The slim body and tires make fast speeds possible without much effort. The rear rack is great for carrying books and bags, if you attach a sack or net. The handle grips are very comfortable, smooth with just enough grip, not too textured like some other bikes.
I use it to commute to work and on bike trails near a local river, where the nicely gripped tires come in handy.
Some useful additions I purchased were a Schwinn thrasher helmet; does the job and looks good for only $25, a bell xenon light set; very bright and gives a lot of light for night time riding, a Schwinn frame pump; great for inflating tires on the go and attaches to the frame, and an adjustable bell water cage; it can hold any size beverage.
I would definitely recommend this bike.
I plan to take some photos and upload them soon as there is only one picture so far.

(More customer reviews)I just finished assembling the bike. I love it! I have been looking for a comfy crusier style bike but versitale enough to go from trails to off roading. I biked 1/2 way up my super steep hill with no problem. The set up wasn't too hard. I have never worked on a bike before and with a few tools I was able to but on the front tire, pedals and handle bars. The seat is very comfortable. It was hard to decide on a bike online, but this is definately the right choice.

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a comfortable bike to use for rides on the street with grand-kids, or running errands locally. This is it! The shocks on the front forks and seat make for a smoother ride. The size of the seat fits my grandpa behind better; and, since I'm 6' 4", the 700C (aka ~29") wheels help there too! Only issue is that the rear fender and luggage rack connections occupy space on the rear hub that contends with the trailer hitch (Schwinn/In-Step). So, I made my own out of andle iron and PVC cap. Has survived two neighborhood trips without noticeable ill effects--if it survives four more, I think I'll make a video "How-To" and send it in.

Kent Sierra Madre Men's Comfort Bike Review

(More customer reviews)My men's Sierra Madre shipped extremely fast (via "free" ground) and arrived with only minor damage (broken front reflector, paint/words of right handlebar shifter rubbed off by friction with box enclosure). Although the packaging is not very protective, the bike does come with a 6 months warranty for parts and I'm happy (replaced both reflectors with head and tail lights; never notice rubbed off paint on shifter when riding).
I ride on 3/4 mile of dirt road and grass to get to a paved road. Although no bike is totally comfortable, this one is surprisingly so. Note that the rear suspension pivot is behind the crank so that one's feet are insulated from shocks (and the distance from seat to pedals remains fixed). The tires are large (26 x 2.125) with 50 psi max with no kevlar and with cheap tubes (plan on replacing these to prevent flats). The other components are inexpensive but name brand and they look good. If I didn't have to go uphill on grass, I might not need the granny gear. One poster mentioned the quirk shifting from 1st to 2nd chainwheel. FYI, there is no problem shifting between 2nd and 3rd chainwheel, and from 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st. On paved road I use 2nd and 3rd chainwheels only. I will drop to the granny gear (1st chainwheel) while going uphill on grass. The rear sprockets shifting system works perfectly.
Walmart has a sort-of similar model named the Next Avalon (same manufacturer). The frames are practically the same, but the gearing (21 speed vs. 7 speed), brakes, shifters, etc., are different (more toy-like, as on their other below $100 bikes). I also bought an Avalon for my wife recently. These two bikes have the same frame features and the same seats. The rest of the components are different and I can see and feel the quality differences. I'm tempted to return the Avalon and get another Sierra Madre (for the better quality, not the extra speeds which my wife doesn't need).
I found Kent International very responsive to my questions. Should I decide to change bikes in the future, I will surely consider their products for purchase.

Currie EZip Trailz Step Thru Women's Electric Bike Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this bike because i am getting to be a near jurassic (70 yr old) man, but wanted a "step thru" frame. At this age i just cant swing that old leg up like the young ones and dont mind the snickers about it being a lady's bike! Hey bring me my pink water bottle!! lol
So.. the shipper (UPS) did a real bang up job..and i mean bang up! The box was ripped, the frame scratched, busted some styrofoam and generally musta had a gorilla throw it around before finally leaving in on my front porch. Ezip does pack it well though and they are smart enough to include some touch up paint.
I was immediately impressed with the welds, the finish, and overall quality of the bike..amazing for the price. Assembly was not too bad, and all parts were there except one front hub nut (this maybe be lost due to the shipping?) The front brake was out of adjustment but i used the rear brake as a model. All instructions were easy to read, however like so many products these days, the lawyers must be have written the first five pages of everything because of all the WARNINGS! Wear a helmet! Dont ride at night!
Tell your mother where you are going! (ok not that one) Dont ride in sandals or barefoot!
Oh my goodness, did i buy a bicycle or a death trap?
The battery is being charged tonight and i will take it out for a spin tomorrow, and I look forward to passing those spandex bicycle "gangs" going uphill , puff puff... "come on boys!"
So far, so good and i will add a review on how it runs a little later, but for now i can recommend this Ezip machine, a heck of a deal for the money (god bless the chinese) . If we could just export our love of litigation we could eliminate our trade deficit!!
oh ya, it says i am in bangkok,thailand but i am now in the mountains of colorado..

Oh one last thing... i am 6'2" and 200 lbs, so the bike is a little small for me, but for the price i can get small.... if i like riding electric bikes (i think i will), maybe some big manly bike is next!!! but I'm keepin the water bottle!
P.S. after 3 months of riding... the bike is FANTASTIC... no problems.. no regrets ...this is my kinda relationship!! (reliable and cheap) oh, one note, if you leave the bike to go in shopping at the dollar store (my kinda place) it turns off the battery after 3 min.. so just flip the switch back on and you be zoomin in no time...
oh ..one more note.. it is very easy to switch back and forth between pedal assist and motobike zoom... and whenever you hit the brakes.. the motor cuts out.. so you wont go flying thru that busy intersection!!
