(More customer reviews)I bought this bike for my fiancee and we have been taking rides pretty much every day after work. Here's how I'd break down our experience:
Setup: Pretty easy as far as bikes go, although it will likely be tougher than you think if you've never put one together before. If this process intimidates you at all, it may make sense to bring it to a bike shop for setup.
Construction: I am not a bike expert, but once put together this bike seems solid. Shifting is easy and smooth and the brakes are responsive and easily adjustable. The only note is that this bike is a bit on the heavy side.
Ride: We typically go on rides between 5 and 15 miles, and this bike has done great so far. The shocks help to provide a smooth ride, and the bike handles well going up and down hills. No complaints here.
Overall: We're totally happy with this bike purchase, it's been great for our casual cycling. If you're looking for a bike for casual after-work rides, or maybe longer ones on the weekend - then you will probably not be disappointed with this one.

(More customer reviews)Have put nearly 2000 miles on these and they still have usable tread left. As long as you keep them inflated properly the colored portion lasts for a long time, still have plenty of color left on the yellow ones I'm riding on right now. I commute to work with these tires and go through a lot of road debris but have not had a single puncture yet with these. The ride quality isn't the best but for the price it's just fine and they corner better than other tires I've used in the same price range. Definitely buying another set of these soon, great deal!

Bell Cruiser 26-Inch Bike Tire Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this Bell Cruiser tire for an older model Trek Singletrack that I'm currently using to commute to work on. I have to admit that I'm surprised at how decent this tire is. It has a road-friendly tread pattern on it, so that I don't feel like I'm trying to bike on knobbies, yet it does grip very well when I do ride on some local trails. It's not even marketed as a multi-use tire, yet it is. Seriously: if you are using an old mountain bike type of bicycle to commute on and want some street friendly tires that work okay on packed dirt trails as well, then try these cruiser tires. I'm very happy with them.

I am 6'4", and I ordered the X-large frame which turned out to be the correct size if not a little big. The bike seems well made, and it has all of the right features to add on a rack, fenders, lights, etc. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a customizable relatively inexpensible hybrid bike.

Schwalbe Marathon Cross HS 334 Trekking/Road Bike Tire (700x38, Allround Wire Beaded, Reflex) Review

(More customer reviews)This is an extremely versatile tire. It rides well on pavement and is fine for moderate off-road conditions. I've used Michelin City Tires, which are outstanding on pavement but, like any slick tire, are out of their element off-road. I had the Michelins mounted on my MTB and quickly became frustrated with the road tire's limitations whenever I wanted to take an alternate path or trail. The Marathon Cross's are an ideal compromise; they roll well on pavement, not quite as "fast" as the Michelins, but are also capable of handling dirt & gravel trails. Like the Michelins, they have a puncture-resistant belt and a reflective ring; both a huge benefit for commuting or touring.
The only negative is that they are quite difficult to install. The tires have been flat free for 900 miles, but I certainly don't look forward to changing a tube on the road.

Nirve Brookhurst Men's European Style Road Bike (700c Wheels, Imperial Blue) Review

(More customer reviews)Just got this bike in the mail last week. The bike comes together for the most part, just have to attach the handle bars, front tire, and seat.
The color is a deep bluish purple with some nice detailing, definitely a sharp retro looking ride.
I'm used to a mountain bike with a forward ride so this was a nice break with a leisurely riding feel. The tires (though I'm used to mountain bike tires) are REALLY skinny, I think they're 700cc?
The shifting system is pretty cool, it is a Shimano Nexus internal gear system with 7-speeds. Shifting felt smooth and 7 gears was plenty to get around.
All in all a very cool bike. Only downside for me was the handle bar handles and saddle are plastic made to look leather. A nice Brooks saddle and some Dapper Dan grips would make this bike really sharp looking.

Schwinn 700c Men's Trail Way Bike Review

(More customer reviews)My hobby is rebuilding and riding bicycles (over 120 at my house), so when I was in Target and saw the 700c wheels, paired spokes and suspension I knew I had to try one. After a couple of additional visits to Target to measure seat post length, handlebar rise and stand over height, I bought one.
As with most department store bicycles, they are assembled but not tuned or tweaked. I trued the wheels, inflated the tires and installed an alloy kickstand because the original one was scratched. A quick toe-in adjustment of the front brake pads cured a squeal, and after adding a water bottle, rear rack, installing sportier grips, and removing unwanted tags and stickers, I was ready to ride.
After a 42 mile test ride I was impressed with the smooth ride and pleased with its good looks. It pedals and rides lighter than I thought it would. Adjusted properly, the shifters worked great, and the brakes provided excellent stopping power with surprisingly light force. The seat is comfortable, and at full up adjustment of the stem, I'm not hunched over bad at all. I'm nearly 6 ft & 180 lbs. A couple of problem areas - the freewheel was noisy. Back pedaling or shifting gears helped briefly, but as I have done with other bikes, I installed a quieter Sunrace freewheel. The other problem felt like a loose bottom bracket or pedal. A couple of adjustments on the BB didn't do much, and I later found out that the pedals had not been tightened into the crank arms. I now have a quiet bike, but am having a hard time finding spare tubes in that tire size with 48mm Schrader valves as it came with or even 48/60mm Presta valves. I might have to go with shorter Prestas and use valve extensions and adapters for the Schrader rim holes. What a pain!
Overall I am pleased with my purchase. Department store bikes are priced low because they use lower end parts and do not have dealer tweaking and adjusting. Things will be wrong with them. But once in a while there's a model that is worth the effort. For me, this is one of them.
9/23/07 Tube update - Quality has a 700c x 35-43 tube with a 48mm Presta valve, two of which I ordered from my local bike shop, and Performance.com has a 700c x 35-38 tube with the same length Presta valve. With a set of the rim hole adapters (Stem Savers), I'm all set.

I was on a budget, and these tires prosmised dependable service, so I took a chance. I trained with these tires for two months prior to my trip, and put a little over a thousand miles on them. During my three month bike tour, I only had one flat, and never experienced any problems, even on some stretches of gravel and dirt roads. After more than 5,000 miles of riding, the tires still look almost new. These are in my opinion, the best street tires for the money.

Did quite a bit of research and tested out more expensive rides, but couldn't beat this bike for a great balance of quality and price. Just look at the features -- a bike with an aluminum alloy body, Shimano drive train and front fork suspension could easily run two or three times the cost of this bike. (More customer reviews)It's been a few months since I threw these on both my bike and my wife's. So far we've had no flats, and that includes a lot of curb-hopping, and riding on everything from gravel to urban streets to lawns (shhh, don't tell).
If the majority of your riding is on the asphalt and concrete these tires are a terrific way to improve your rolling resistance. They're a breeze on packed dirt, too. I also find them aesthetically pleasing; the tread looks nicer than some of the more expensive tires, and the logo treatment on the side walls is tasteful and timeless.
Just one word of warning; I read a review somewhere before purchasing these that they out rode some knobbies in gravel. I find this highly unlikely. My first week or so on these I came tearing into some gravel at a little bit of an angle and woah, boy, did that get my heart rate up.
Also, I can only give the tires four stars because, while I haven't had any flats, they offer no flat protection.
Overall this is a great, cheap way for you to speed up a mountain bike, and stave off those urges you get every time you stroll by that road cycle in the bike shop.
Don't think I didn't see you.

-substantial wheels stand up to cracks and dips in the road
-adjustable handlebars allow for a more or less upright riding position (I love to cruise with a tall straight spine... hate hunching my back on other bikes)
-shocks on the front wheel and under the seat make for a smooth ride despite potholes
-wide comfortable seat doesn't dig in to the wrong "parts"; instead, there's some nice padding under the sit bones
-plastic guard protects pants from getting caught in the chains
I've been riding my new bike to work every day through the city, where I encounter all sorts of conditions; the bike gets me through them all pretty comfortably. Pedaling up hills has never been easier and I don't even have to stand. The brakes are responsive and smooth. This is a hardcore comfort bike.
