(More customer reviews)The most important thing about a helmet is that it fits properly, and all heads are different. Fit means it should fit snug, level, and stable once the straps are adjusted. You can test this by hitting the helmet with the palm of your hand on your head from the front and rear and from the sides, it should stay on without very little (inch or less) movement.
I tried a bunch of helmets and this was the only one I found that fit from side to side. THAT DOESN'T NECESSARILY MEAN THE LAZER MAGMA WILL FIT YOU. If a helmet doesn't fit don't buy it because it could compromise your safety in an event of an accident. Search for one that fits you, all helmet manufactures make theirs different even between a manufacture models.
The Lazer Magma is a good, well made helmet. It has 21 large well designed air vents that will allow air to flow from the front and taking the warmer air out the rear keeping your head cool. It comes with cool max pads which assist with keeping your head a tad cooler then normal pads, and comes with an extra set of pads to use when those wear out. It comes with a winter cap which replaces the visor (by snapping off the visor) and attaching, it somewhat effectively reduces the air flow into the helmet. But if your riding in the cold you need additional protection from the cold like a helmet cover to shut off air flow completely and a skull cap.The included sun visor is not so long that you have to crank your neck up just to see pass it, it's a nice short design.
All bicycle helmets sold in America, even cheap $15 discount store helmets, have to pass CPSE safety ratings, some of the better ones, like this one, goes a step further by putting a reinforcement in the helmet, similar to roll cage in principal, in the front and sides; also more expensive helmets like this one use a in molded design where the outside plastic covering of the helmet is fused onto the inner foam lining making the outside of the helmet tougher for impacts. In other words, this helmet EXCEEDS CPSE requirements.
The helmet is comfortable and light in weight, and looks good. I would suggest trying this helmet if you tried a bunch of others on and haven't found one that fit right. It's difficult to find this brand in most bike shops, but I got lucky with the fit when I ordered it by e-mail from Nigara Cycle Works who are great people to deal with.
