Pumps up tires/tubes with Shrader valves OK.
The Presta valve side of the twin head does not work properly with short stemmed Presta valves. It seems that the pump nozzle has difficulty in forming a good seal with short stemmed Presta valves. The pump will only pump up to around 75 PSI into the tire/tube. Pressures beyond 75 PSI appear to "seal" the valve, which prevents further tire/tube inflation. The extra pressure just pressurizes the pump hose only!
Pumping to higher pressures is a bit difficult. Especially when compared to easier working pumps such as Specialized and Blackburn brands which I have also.
Overall it is an average pump.
Not recommended for use with short stemmed Presta valves.

My tires are tubular presta and I can't tell you what a nuisance it was fitting on the adapter. Not with this pump. It's almost effortless.Totally built to last. I inflate my tires to 125-130 PSI and it only takes several easy strokes to get there. Topeak makes great products. No nonsense. No cutting corners.

(More customer reviews)Based on the price I paid I expected a product of basic quality. However, I am surprised by the quality of the design and it seems to be solidly built. The adjustable arrow on the air pressure indicator is a nice feature as it keeps me from forgetting what my max pressure is and blowing up the tube.
I'm no expert on bike pumps (first one I've owned) but it does the job and is well constructed - so I would strongly reccomend it to anyone.

Planet Bike 1002-3 ALX Floor Pump with Love Handle Review

(More customer reviews)Straight out of the box this pump's burnished aluminum construction was a good indication that I'd made the right choice. After figuring out how to attach it to my bike's Presta valves (open the valve, give it a gentle tap to bleed some air, press on the pump connector and then pull the lever up to lock in position) it took less than ten strokes to get 120psi. Very smooth, easy to read pressure gauge and the handle really is easy on your hands. Having my tires consistently pumped to their rated pressures has dramatically improved my daily rides - my tires are rock hard, but man are they fast! Big kudos to Planet Bike on this pump!

The nozzle kept flying off of the valve and would not stay on the valve long enough for the tire to be inflated. It would only inflate the tire halfway, until it got difficult to push down and then the nozzle would fly off with each hard pump. I returned it.

Bell Windstorm Floor Pump with Gauge Review

(More customer reviews)I picked one of these the other day at the big bricks and mortar store. Mainly for my car. The guy in the 'car and tires' department looked like he was about to have a heart attack - "get a FOOT pump" he kept repeating, "these are for BIKES, not cars". When challenged, he wasn't able to actually find and show me the foot pump so the Bell Floor Pump with Gauge it was.
To make the short story short, I got all 4 tires inflated from 28 psi to the recommended 33 psi in about 10 minutes. It was about 25-30 pumps per tire to raise the pressure by 5 psi and I didn't break a sweat - cold winter, cold garage.
The good things this pump has going for are:
- comfortable grip
- pretty good pumping volume - sending a lot of air into the tire with each press
- air does not escape once it's mounted on the tire
- inexpensive
The not so good things:
- air hose is pretty short and on an SUV or truck you may have to roll it a little if the spout happens to be too high for the short hose
- the foot rests seem to be relatively easy to break plastic so you handle it with care
- the gauge readings are not reliable - they really show you the pressure in the pump not in the tire - used the Accutire MS-4350B Programmable Digital Tire Gauge for precise measurements
Briefly: this is a perfect pump for bikes and a good one for small cars, maybe not so convenient but still usable with trucks and really big SUVs.

Topeak JoeBlow Sprint Floor Bike Pump Review

1) Steal base is wide and stable.
2) Pressure guage is located at top of shaft. It is easy to read as far as pump guages go.
3) Pumping is effortless. I attached it to my mini-van tires, and with a good deal of pumping, was able to top off the pressure. Not more convenient than a air compressor, but definitely do-able in 5 - 10 min of pumping if you need to do it.
4) Pressure guage is accurate, and includes a bleed valve so that you can release air without removing the hose from the valve.
Only complaint: the T-type valve adapter is just a little bulky. It could be a problem if you need to get it into a really tight space (this problem is very unlikely for the typical user, but possible I think). A cheap valve extender from your local sports store would fix this problem if it occurs, and it may be worth the hassle to have both schrader and presta adapters permanently affixed to the pump.
Definitely a good buy. Would highly recommend, and would definitely buy it again.

(More customer reviews)After working hard with other less expensive pumps to get up to the required 110 psi in my bicycle tires I decided to spend a little more money and get something better. After several hours of research I decided that this pump might fill the bill. I was right. The volume of air delivered versus the effort expended is high. It is a cinch to get up to 110 psi. Topping off automobile tires by a couple of psi to 30 psi just takes a few stroke of the pump. I don't even break a sweat in the Texas summer heat when I use this pump. The extra length of the hose is very useful and the pressure gauge at the top of the pump is easily read. The pump appears to be well made and should last a long time.
This is a great pump for the price and the lifetime warranty helped to make my choice. I contacted Blackburn to make sure there were no hidden requirements for the warranty feature and there aren't. I have also used other Blackburn products with satisfaction.
If you are reading this I assume you are in the market for a pump. I heartily recommend it.
