(More customer reviews)These are heavy duty tubes. I did not expect them to be as thick as they are and I mean they are thick. I installed these tubes on two of my bikes so far but haven't had a chance to go for a long ride yet. But I didn't have any problems with installation. I removed the original tubes and installed these and I used one of the ORIGINAL tubes as a spare in case I do have a flat. I would not use one of these as a spare as they are about the weight of three regular tubes combined.

I have a Burley trailer that uses 20x1.75 tubes and even ordered tubes for it as I don't want any flats. And even if I do these are so thick that I could probably run the tires flat and still keep going.
I was leary about ordering these at first but at this time I am very please with this product. Just take your time and make sure that the tire seats itself properly on the rim and I would recommend these to others and I will also update my review of them after I get some miles on these tubes.
Since these tubes are so thick and heavy it might take some more effort to pedal because of the rotational force that is involved. I don't think I would use these on my road bike because of that. But for the commuter bike that I plan on riding to work (7 miles one way) or the bike for pulling by trailer it won't matter that much to me. I don't want to fix a flat. If you are planning on riding a long distance (10 to 20 miles or more) stay with the lighter tubes and just carry a spare tube in case you have a flat. It will take more effort to pedal but you won't be fixing flats all the time.UPDATE....I had these for five months and the problem that I have had was that the brass is not sealed to the rubber as it should and the air is leaking out around it. I don't know of anyway to seal this so the tube is trashed. This is the first time that I have had any problems with the filler valves messing up.

(More customer reviews)I've come to like most Planet Bike products, but this is not one of them. The gauge works great for schrader valves. It creates a great seal and is very accurate. The push button reset is also very nice. Unfortunately, this thing is awful for presta valves, which is the reason I bought it. I've tried again and again and cannot seem to find a way to avoid losing 5-10 PSI when attaching it to the valve. It completely fails to create a good seal and you will lose more air pressure the longer it stays on the valve.

Zefal Twin Bicycle Tire Gauge Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this to carry with me while cycling, and I take it with me every time.
I remember I bought it in Japan, I moved back to the States in 2004, and I had been using it in Japan for at least three years, so let's just say this thing has been serving me well for ten years and tens of thousands of miles. During that ten years I've ridden an average of four days a week / 52 weeks a year--so that's thousands of rides this thing has lasted me. It's also safe to say I've used it at least a hundred times, probably twice that.
And it still works.
If you haven't been using a pressure gauge when inflating your tires, using the old pinch or squeeze method instead, I guarantee your tires are horribly underinflated. Try to correct this without a gauge and they might be horribly overinflated--which can cause them to explode (really, this has happened to me).
Stick it in your pocket, saddle bag, or backpack along with a couple of Pedro's Tire Spoons, a mini pump, and a spare tube and you're ready to be up and rolling after a flat during all those good times cycling without having to end your ride midway, take the bike to a shop, and pay $15 to $20 to have a pro do a bad job of what you should have been able to do better yourself in five minutes on the side of the road or trail.
Note that this gauge is compatible with both Schraeder valves--like the ones that are on your car tires--and Presta--which are those skinny valves that are found only on narrow bicycle wheels. There is a separate 'female' port for each of the two types of valves as well as a button on the end you press to reset the gauge to zero before taking a fresh reading.
The gauge is feather light and packs easily despite its odd shape. I especially like that analogue big dial gauge by comparison to the old popout stick gauge which is relatively difficult to read, or a digital display.
TIP: If you're wondering how much air should be in your tires look at the sidewall of the tire for this information. Every tire--bike, car, tractor, NASA rocket pad, et cetera--has the pressure range and recommendation written on the side of the tire. Don't make the mistake of assuming that the tire pressure depends on the type of vehicle, because it doesn't. It depends on the particular make and model of tire. A typical mountain bike tire for instance will have a recommended pressure range of 50 psi to 65 psi, but some wont go that high while others might be able to take as high as 100 psi; road bike tires typically take 120 psi, and car tires typically take 35 psi. But do yourself the favor of actually reading the pressure recommendation on the side of each tire before pumping.
Bottom Line: If mine ever ends up breaking on me, I'll buy the exact same one again.

(More customer reviews)So far so good with my first trial of these tubes. I've only gone a couple hundred miles on them, but I can say with certainty that the smooth valve stem is an absolute must. I tried them because of that after 3 flats in a row on Bontrager super lights all failing at the valve stem area. I recommend based on performance so far. No flat and they hold air well (I run at 110 to 120 psi).

Pumps up tires/tubes with Shrader valves OK.
The Presta valve side of the twin head does not work properly with short stemmed Presta valves. It seems that the pump nozzle has difficulty in forming a good seal with short stemmed Presta valves. The pump will only pump up to around 75 PSI into the tire/tube. Pressures beyond 75 PSI appear to "seal" the valve, which prevents further tire/tube inflation. The extra pressure just pressurizes the pump hose only!
Pumping to higher pressures is a bit difficult. Especially when compared to easier working pumps such as Specialized and Blackburn brands which I have also.
Overall it is an average pump.
Not recommended for use with short stemmed Presta valves.

(More customer reviews)I'm not looking for superlative performance from a $20 tire but they should last a few miles. I bought 4 of these tires. I ride a short 10 mile commute on normal asphalt road surface, moderate temperatures, less than 220 lbs with bike, and inflate to 90-95 psi. First pair of tires deformed within 500 miles and had unrideable bulges within a few months. The third tire ripped off the bead on first inflation and fourth tire is already warping after having it on the rim for a week. Significantly more flats on the first pair than with gatorskins.

This is an amazing pump, very small and works really good. I had other pumps before, but for my racing bike I need to put over 100PSI air. No mini pump could go near 80PSI. This one goes as much as 160PSI according to the specs. When I tried it on my bike, I could go over 100 easily. My tires can take a maximum of 120PSI, so I didn't try further. It is neatly built, with high quality material. The barrel is brushed aluminum, and very narrow in diameter. Towards the end of pumping it gets warm, but it works like a charm. Thanks Topeak! If I lose I'd definitely buy again.

XLC Boxed Tube, 700 x 20 - 25C (27 x 1), PRESTA (48mm) Review

(More customer reviews)These tubes are the smooth unthreaded, Presta valves without the valve lock nut. I wasn't certain when I ordered them, but for $ 2.79 each thought it was worth giving them a shot. The tubes aren't self-sealing or thorn resistant, but again, those extra features are available in pricier tubes. The OEM Innova's the XLC's replaced were threaded and my original quest & intent was to get threaded tubes to replace threaded tubes. That was the only moment of any perception of disappointment. I proceeded to install them and now realize these are much better in that the unthreaded valve stems don't wear out the Presta valve rubber gasket seal of your hand pump sooner. Reading on-line I had read forum discussions & feedback that there is a possibility that the unthreaded don't lock onto the air pump as well, but as previously stated, that threading comes with a wear and tear penalty on your air pump. I had no problems locking onto the XLC smooth unthreaded Presta valve and inflating the tubes to 100+ psi, they hold air and if you can get past not having a threaded valve with a lock nut, these are excellent value tubes.
My OEM Innova tubes had 4 defective bumps in the front tire tube, I haven't checked the rear, maybe I pay a price for being lazy that way. Anyway, one of those defects developed a hole and thus the flat. The XLC tubes were non-deformed rubber all the way around. All tubes inflate with a bulge here and there and that's to be expected with these as well.
As for Niagara Cycle Works as a vendor, they priced for value, the XLC product performs as new, and my test ride(s) around the neighborhood, I encountered no issues. Customer service was excellent, prompt shipping, Amazon provided tracking number for USPS.

(More customer reviews)I wanteded two mini-pumps, so I purchased both the Mini-DXG as well as the Mini-G models. The DXG is a little shorter, with slightly improved frame mounting, but general performance is the same. Both have a built-in pressure gage that works, but I don't expect it to be very accurate. Both pump air during IN and OUT strokes, which was much more difficult than a floor pump, but I plan to use these for emergencies only. Both frame-mounts will position the pump next to the bottle cage, using the same screws for the bottle cage. This was OK except when I bike with casual long pants, my pant cuffs would catch on the pump lever if mounted on the left side, and if mounted on the right side, it's too close to the bike chain. This is not a big deal because I just carry these in my bike bag, but I would've liked it much more if it would've just velcro-mounted to my top bar.

(More customer reviews)I've been using this brand/style of tube on my road bike for the past 18 months (mostly because it's the only tube readily available at Dick's). I've noticed that some (~20%) of the tubes have 'soft' spots that show up as dips when the tube is even just partially inflated. These tubes tend to last me about a week (~30 miles) before they flat. However, if the tube doesn't have any soft spots I'm able to use them until I hit something that my tires just can't protect any tube against.

Planet Bike 1002-3 ALX Floor Pump with Love Handle Review

(More customer reviews)Straight out of the box this pump's burnished aluminum construction was a good indication that I'd made the right choice. After figuring out how to attach it to my bike's Presta valves (open the valve, give it a gentle tap to bleed some air, press on the pump connector and then pull the lever up to lock in position) it took less than ten strokes to get 120psi. Very smooth, easy to read pressure gauge and the handle really is easy on your hands. Having my tires consistently pumped to their rated pressures has dramatically improved my daily rides - my tires are rock hard, but man are they fast! Big kudos to Planet Bike on this pump!
