It is incredibly light and the anatomic bend is nice in the drops. however, I think i would've preferred a 46 cm as opposed to the 40 cm i got, but that's certainly not easton's fault. overall a good cheap handlebar. we'll just see if it lasts as i'm hard on my toys.

Aztec Powerlines Compressionless Gear Cable Set Review

(More customer reviews)I'll state right off that I consider myself technically and mechanically adept, and I've been wrenching my own bikes for over 30 years. If you aren't adept, do not even consider these cables (at least as a DIY application). The ugly first - be very, very wary of the exact length of *housing* that you need. The cable and sheath are long enough for any mountain bike application - BUT - some bikes will require a longer housing, and Aztec will piss and moan that you'll need to buy *two* sets to give you enough cable (absolutely NO WAY says this buyer... one set should meet the needs of any bike except for recumbants or tandems). After ranting on the phone, they finally did send me extra housing (but they still wanted to sell it to me - it was only after I gave the "I know ten people, who will each tell ten people..." that they finally broke down. I have a Titus Moto-Lite, and it should be noted that there are two sections of my cable route that are *not* in housings (under the top tube and along the seatstay. Clearly, someone flubbed in the design of the housing length to package. Measure carefully, because there is *no* room for error. The bad (and this is for those who might not be fully coordinated) is that when you're assembling, you *must* be careful to line up each individual metal cylinder the right way - they fit together one way, in one direction. Personally, I had no problems because I was *very* careful, but I could also easily see that with one little slip, you will lose the whole lot all over your garage floor. The good - once you get the right housing length, and get the cylinders all threaded and installed, and everything set just right, you will have *no* problems with this cable set-up. Aside from the expected cable stretch (easily tweaked by the barrel adjuster), I've had flawless operation. After about a year, I did have the outside (clear) housing crack, but this didn't affect performance. Over more time, I did replace the outside housing (with the extra that Aztec begrudgingly sent to me), and I'm back good to go. Because of the cable sheath, which runs the entire length of the cable, from inside the shifter all the way to the securing bolt on the derailleur, I have had absolutely no issues with gumming up (while I do live in the desert SW, I have ridden in a share of rain, mud, etc.). My overall rating is mostly due to the hassle over the housing length... if you address this from the get-go, then I would rate these cables at least a 4-star.

Another option is to get foam grips but they are thicker and would not normally have a wrap on them. With this, it is a thin enough foam that you can wrap it and it has a good ergo shape. It is not so soft that it squishes down to nothing. It has a bit of firmness just like you want.

Planet Bike SpeedEZ ATB Front and Rear Bicycle Fender Set (60mm Wide) Review

(More customer reviews)I have an old rigid frame/fork ATB and originally bought for it the 'Planet Bike Hardcore ATB Fenders'--the ones that attach via screws into eyelets on your frame. They fit perfectly and solidly. However the rear fender interfered with my rear rack's mounting; both preferred the same eyelets and I would've had to bend the stays on the fender to get them to coexist. So I reluctantly returned that set for this SpeedEZ fender set with the eyelet-less attachment mechanism.
Now the rear fender fits nicely underneath my rack, but the front fender is quite unstable using only the given mounting fixtures. The part of the front fender covering the back arc of the wheel is well supported by the fender stays, but nothing secures the section of fender at the top of the wheel from rattling around between my rigid fork when on bumpy terrain. The problem is easily remedied by threading a wire through the holes in the bend of my fork and then through holes in the plastic of the fender, but it would have been nice to have the option of the metal bracket extending perpendicular from the top of the fender to screw into the fork bend that you see in the other fender set model (and in the inaccurate picture shown here).
Also the rubber-strap based mechanism of holding the fender stays to the frame is a bit lame in my opinion. Seems like they could have come up with something cleaner and more durable without giving up versatility--perhaps flexible metal clamps with rubber cushioning and screws to tighten.
All-in-all they are durable and do the job.
This after about 1 1/2 months of use: The tab at the end of the rear fender that attaches to your bike frame (with a zip-tie) broke off at the point where it narrows in from the rest of the plastic fender to become a tab. I repaired the fender by drilling a couple holes above the break-off and affixing a metal bracket to hang down as the tab once had and then attaching that to the frame instead. Indestructible? I think not. But there sure aren't many choices out there for full fenders.

Planet Bike Protege 9.0 9-Function Bike Computer with 4-Line Display and Temperature Review

(More customer reviews)There's a lot to like about this cycle computer. The "buttonless" design works well and allows a large display with most everything you'll need on one very readable page. I was especially pleased to find that, unlike my old CatEye, you can preset an odometer reading. I was also pleased to find that it has a 2 bike capability. You set wheel circumfrence and can preset an odometer readings for each. A single button on the back toggles between bikes. All that's needed is another wire/sensor harness which is relatively cheap. Modes are selected by pressing up on the entire computer and will show an odometer reading for the selected bike or an accumulated reading for both. The clock feature is also welcome.
The only negative is the temperature reading, which proved to be wildly inaccurate. I think sunshine causes a greeen-house effect inside the sealed unit. Whatever, it reads much higher than actual air temperature although tucked away in the garage the reading is reasonably accurate. Temperature reading wasn't a big issue with me anyway.
I couldn't be happier with it!

Serfas Handle Bar Light Plugs Review

(More customer reviews)The Serfas Tracer takes a total of 4 watch batteries, which is a nuisance because you're unlikely to have replacements handy when they go dead. There are slots in the plastic casing for the batteries go in, but this means that the batteries and the internal circuit board are exposed. Even though they were stuck in the ends of your handlebars, it seems they had some exposure to the elements. I ride this bike in the rain a lot and when I took the Serfas out to replace the batteries, there was some corrosion around the batteries and a little bit on the circuit board.
I thought I would like the switch mechanism, which is that you push the light bulb itself to toggle it. It's actually remarkably hard to push when you're on the bike though.
The light itself is OK but does not seem particularly bright to me.
I think a better option is Soma Road Flares. I have Soma Road Flares on another bike. They take standard AAA batteries which is great. The unit has a totally sealed plastic casing, with even the battery going into an enclosed housing with a screw-on cap. There is also a rubber grommet around the plastic case to make it fit better in the bar ends, which the Serfas doesn't have. The toggle switch is a little rubber button, which is pretty easy to push on the bike, a little hard if you're wearing full finger gloves. The Somas seem a little brighter than the Serfas to me, although it's probably about the same. The Soma has a plastic "lens" over the LED which makes it look a bit brighter. The Soma Road Flares are a little hard to track down but they're typically $15 which is half the price of the Serfas Tracers. Rivendell has 'em.

SIGMA BC1706HR DTS Wireless Bicycle Speedometer with Heart Rate Monitor Review

(More customer reviews)This is my 4th bike computer over the years. The dual bike functionality is brilliant. The addition of pulse monitoring is awesome. The layout of stats is excellent -- I especially like the fact that half are triggered by one button, and half by another. That means that rather than stepping through all 20 (or so), you can access a given stat in 1/2 of the number of button presses.
The only issue is that on my trail bike with the giant, shock-forks there is a lot of metal between the wheel sensor transmitter and the receiver on the handlebars. I do lose the signal on occasion. I suspect that if I spend the time to move the receiver and transmitter around, I can improve reliability. As pointed out by others, the manual sucks. I'm not particularly pleased that all parts are held on by rubber o-rings -- not sure what UV and weather will do to those over time. The o-rings are certainly more adaptive to different diameter mounting situations, but I would much rather screw them down with clamps. Would love a temperature function, but suspect that it is not possible since device is always in direct sunlight.
Negatives aside, bottom-line is this is the best bike comp I've ever owned and would buy again/recommend to friends.

If you buy this product make sure you replace them with quality before you ride. #2 If this was only a little thicker it could have held a place for a small tube of vulcanizer. Other than those petty things, it's compact, lightweight and stores your patches and sandpaper within it. I used it many times on my MTB and road bike and the levers worked great.

The Zefal Swan Road combines both of these features. It is well designed, well-built, attractive, adjustable, and performs as it should. My only complaint is that it is knocked out of alignment fairly easily, but it also doesn't take much to realign it.

(More customer reviews)These lights work well, seem to be sturdy in construction and one battery seems to last quite a while. I'm very pleased with them but I couldn't give them 5 stars due to the design of the white light.
I had been using them for about a week and had to take an extra early ride in to work. It was my first when it was dark out. When I turned on the white light on the handlebars it shone in a wide arc, over 180 degrees up and down and left and right. I couldn't see because the light was shinning in my face as well as everywhere else.
A piece of black tape on the top part of the light and I was soon on my way. An easy fix to this if it happens to you.
Still riding with it and it is still working well. It's getting a bit darker every morning this time of year.
As other have noted this light shouldn't be counted on to light your way in the dark (I usually ride on lighted streets) but it will make you much more visible to others on the road.

Planet Bike Mini Versair Dual Action Bike Pump Review

(More customer reviews)The previous reviewer is right: you need to unscrew the plastic piece a bit, then attach it, then screw it tight, and then pump. I own this and the Morph G and like the Morph better. I think it pumps better and it has a built-in gauge. The only time I plan to use a frame pump is in an emergency, and in that case it's nice to just have a built-in gauge. A floor pump like the Joeblow Pro imo is lot easier to use if you're checking/filling the tires before going out.
An important thing about this pump is that it attaches to the cup holder screws. The plastic is fairly thick and you may find that the screws to your cup holder aren't long enough to hold both the pump and the cup holder-- it happened to me. It also may get in the way of certain pedals, though I can't say that for sure. The Morph on the other hand may not work with some curved women's frames because there's no good place to attach it.
Planet Bike's customer service is very good and helpful, I just don't think this particular unit is all that great.

(More customer reviews)It's not very remarkable, but it does what is supposed to. I used it to replace some "tape" on my dad's 1760's Shwinn Varsity, and am very pleased.
On the quality: It seems great. I don't have a whole lot of experience on the stuff, but it was very easy to put on for a couple of reasons. First off, it is stretchy, and won't tear if you pull it tight. It's actually quite difficult to stretch it to breaking point (of course you can, though). It is backed with a substance that is tacky, but not like glue. It might be the same type of stuff they stick on the bottom of cycling shorts to keep them from riding up. Anyway, it's very forgiving if you mess up.
The one thing that I have noticed is that it is starting to unwind on one side. However, this is due to the way I wrapped that side. IT IS NECESSARY TO WRAP THIS STUFF WITH THE RIGHT METHOD. Google it or something. Also, the tape they gave me was not good or long enough. Have some electrical tape ready.
About the color. I bought the yellow, which was SOLID yellow and not flaked like the red-black deal in the picture. It's nice.
