pros: kendra all terrains, hidden brake lines in handle grips, chain guard removes easily for exposed sprocket look, comfortable seat, low price, unique color, easy flip flop hubbed wheel
cons: a tad heavy for a road bike but easily lighten-able, too many stickers (but they removed effortlessly) toe hooks don't handle extreme stress well (easily replaceable though), tire on flip flop wheel is directional (so it's backwards when in fixed geared position)

SBS BMX Low Profile Crank Arm Set 175mm 110mm BCD Black Review

(More customer reviews)This can be used for road compact double, bmx, cruiser, or single speed. It is actually a very nice road double crankset. These crankarms have been seen on sets costing one heck of a lot more. They're very light, nicely strong and FSA rings are a perfect fit.
This is the RPM crankset (says so on the back of the arms) previously used by FSA when they had square taper in their lineup. This is also the rare 175mm size for extra hill climbing power.
I used mine with the beautiful FSA Super Road 52 large ring. It allows from 36 (and larger) small ring sizes. Nice trick! Lightweight bottom brackets are available, such as Shimano UN73, UN74, VSO Sinz, and Phil Wood.
While this isn't the fastest thing going, it goes head-to-head with most of the best, and this one has a "long lasting" approach that I, personally, appreciate. That's because most of the better square taper bottom brackets can outlast a bike. Shimano's UN53/54 is an economical variety with a similar long life.
Whether you apply it economically or high end, this is a "do it and forget it" maintenance-free product.
It's like a Campy or FSA, with the decimal point in a different place on the price tag.
Similar products used: The Dimension version, which is stronger, coated in black chromate, and is a "triple" ring layout.

(More customer reviews)For a cheap conversion to fixed gear, this is perfect. I'm not a huge skidder, so it doesn't really matter to me how strong the hub is. I've been using it in a pretty tall gear (49/14) and it hasn't had any problems yet. It's a bit heavy, but it doesn't pretend to be a racing wheel. A month on Chicago streets, and it's still true. No complaints yet. Oh, it doesn't say it in the description, but mine came with a 14 tooth cog. Another bonus.

(More customer reviews)It seems like a pretty nice bike. Assembly was pretty straight forward. Removing the chain guard was necessary because it makes too much noise. I had to adjust the front brakes which was no big deal. When putting the seat on I had to loosen the red reflector so I could put the bike seat to the lowest position. Overall it was pretty smooth when riding and I like it. When I use it more I will probably write a better review.

One spoke was broken in shipping, and both wheels were out of true (wobbly, not straight), so I had to leave it at a local bike shop for a week so they could re-true the wheels. I think the wheels can easily be damaged in transit, given the way the bike is packed, so you might want to figure in another $70 to get the wheels re-trued if you order it online.
Broken spokes aside, I'm happy with the way the bike looks. It has a handsome, classic look to it; a look based off of old Raleigh designs. The trouble is: you don't get nearly enough for your money. The saddle and handlebars are cheap-looking plastic. Even the Nirve crest is just a sticker slapped on the front tube. I was able to rip the sticker off, with the help of some Goof-off, so the sticker itself wasn't a problem. I just think the sticker-for-a-crest is emblematic of the disappointing cheap feel of this bike. The internal gear hub and front hub generator are nice features. But on other bikes you can get the internal gear and front hub generator, plus a rack over your rear wheel, plus fenders, plus a real leather and grips, all for hundreds less than this bike.
I thought this would be a nice commuting bike, but the quality of the build and components was severely disappointing. The add-ons included are lacking for a bike in this price range. Overall, this bike feels like a cheap simulacrum of an older, better, design. I'll be selling mine as soon as an opportunity presents. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

Sunlite Crankset Cotterless Alloy 44x170 3/32 Steel Ring Silver Review

(More customer reviews)You always get what you pay for, but I am very happy with this crank set. The chainring face looks a little more solid than shown in the photo, but for $20 I can't complain. Also, the chainring is one piece (it doesn't attach to the crank arm with five little bolts like you normally see). I think the machining on the left crank arm socket is a little out of whack because it won't go as far on to the left square taper bolt on the bottom bracket as the my previous crank set. If you get the nut tight, then you shouldn't have any problems.
You're not getting a Campy crank set, but for the money this is a great way to make that old ten speed into a single speed or fixed gear. I also bought a 16t freewheel.

bike. Went with the free shipping and got the bike in 4 days!! Saved [...] bucks there.
The bike was easy to put together and ready for the road. After riding a mountin bike for years it was a nice switch light and fast. Only gripe one tube had a small
hole (easy patch). Then the other tube goes flat. My advice order some new rim strips you will need them and will save the frustration. I am 5' 11" bike fits me well a little on the tall side perfect for some one 6' or over.

(More customer reviews)I purchased the 58cm Black version; I'm a moderately serious rider. When I take this rig out I'll do 10-15 miles easily including hills and straightaways. First of all anyone looking to buy this because you want to hop on the fixie fad, move along. This is a nice single speed track or trainer bike. The frame is clean and well built, the wheels are light and the components are sturdy and reliable. The downside is predictable, the saddle isn't that great and the pedals are what you might expect cheap, also the tires are cheap. Everything else about the Bike is tops! I swapped out the saddle for a Specialized saddle I had lying around and I swapped the pedals for some cages I also had lying around, the tires I replaced with some Serfas Seca 700 X 23. After that was done, I am very happy with it. It looks ten times better than any "fixie" I ride past any day of the week. It's not corny looking with weird colors and trendy griptape. Buy this bike if you are looking to torture yourself and train hard on hills. A+ overall.
